Coffee is 98 percent water. Often overlooked, the quality of the water is as important as the quality of the coffee. A good rule of thumb is that if your water doesn’t taste good from the tap, it won’t taste any better in your coffee. That’s why Cuisinart suggests adding a water filter to the coffeemaker. Each package has three charcoal and three white filters for the dual filtration system. The two replaceable filters prevent the release of oil vapors and odors into your kitchen. The black charcoal filter takes out the odors and the white filter prevents the release of oil vapors. When the white oil vapor filter indicator square changes or the filter turns brown it is time for replacement after approximately twelve uses.
